Muhlenbergia capillaris 'Pink Cloud' (Muhly grass). Open and airy as the species, but taller and more uniform in bloom. Dense glittering clouds of vivid pink panicles. Long-blooming and drought-tolerant, even more so than the other varieties.. The texture of these plumes adds delicate softness to the garden. During winter, this provides nourishment for birds as the seeds ripen. Ideal for massed planting, container gardening, or even as a standout specimen.
It has been reported by Washington state gardeners that muhlenbergias may not bloom for them, due to their shorter days, even though they are in hardiness zones 6-10.
Low to average water needs; well-drained soil, drought tolerant
