Description Cultural Notes Plant Care
Miscanthus sinensis 'Rigoletto' (Japanese Silver Grass Rigoletto). 'Rigoletto' is a densely-tufted, compact eulalia grass cultivar which typically forms a foliage clump rising 4-5' tall of narrow (1/2" wide), linear, arching, green leaves variegated with white stripes. It grows shorter and more erect with less inclination to flop in late season than the similarly variegated M. s. 'Variegatus'. Tiny bronze flowers in tassel-like inflorescences appear in late summer on stalks rising above the foliage. Tassels gradually mature into silvery white plumes. After seed sets, the continuing flower effect of the plumes lasts well into if not through the winter. Foliage gradually turns tan after frost.
