Description Cultural Notes Plant Care
Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' (Maiden Grass Gracillimus). Commonly known as Maiden Grass, 'Gracillimus' is one of the oldest and perhaps the most widely known of the miscanthus varieties. It is desired for its finely narrow foliage and gracefully round form. 'Gracillimus', a clump forming grass, with an arching shape that may make it seem much larger. Blooms are an attractive copper-red color, which appear in mid to late fall, and are great for attracting butterflies to the garden. Excellent for garden, landscape, screening or at waters' edge. Best miscanthus for hot summer areas. Considered drought tolerant and deer resistant when mature. Cut old stems to ground in early spring. Prefers well-draining soil in full sun to bright shade. Water two to three times per week, until well established. Sold as a giant rooted plug (different than our other plants), this will
take at least 3 years to reach mature size, but well worth the wait!
