Carex pensylvanica 'Pennsylvania Sedge' (Yellow Sedge, Pennsylvania Sedge, oak sedge). Pennsylvania Sedge is a native to eastern and central North America. The bright green foliage is narrow and elegantly arches to the ground. In the fall the foliage will turn to a sandy/tan color. The flowers are delicate thimble-like seed capsules reddish brown in color. It is deer resistant, and drought tolerant once established. If planted in a mass it becomes a lush carpet in the landscape. It can be used as an alternative to lawn. Use as a ground cover, single specimen, or in a container.
