Description Cultural Notes Plant Care
Acorus gramineus 'Variegatus' (Variegated Japanese Sweetflag). Semi-evergreen, handsome grass-like, creamy-white, variegated foliage. Leaves when crushed, emit a delicious tangerine scent. Will naturalize in bogs or at the water's edge, but will also grow with average moisture, and even tolerates clay soil. Do not allow to dry out, however. Useful as a slow spreading mat/ground cover. Insignificant flowers in spring. Outstanding choice for containers on shady patios. Best in part to full shade, but can take morning sun. Considered deer resistant.
