|Do you sell seeds or bare-root?|
|At Santa Rosa Gardens, we grow plants that will transition quickly into your garden. We do NOT offer seeds or bare-root plants, only potted plants.|
|How do you package and ship?|
|At Santa Rosa Gardens, we are proud of our secure and efficient methods for packing your plant order.
We bag every plant in stretchable netting or breathable fiber cloth to prevent foliage damage and to keep soil from breaking loose during transit. Depending upon the size of your order, we either pack your plants in recyclable, cushioned paper or we use our custom designed cardboard plant trays to secure your plants inside the box.
No stryro-foam peanuts are used during the packing of your plants. Every step is taken to insure that your plants arrive in great condition.
|How long will it take my plants to grow?|
|Santa Rosa Gardens ships only potted plants, ready to establish in your garden or landscape. We do not ship bare-root material. We feel that the shipping of material with an active root system allows for faster rooting and quicker establishment of the plant. This is especially important when planting in the summer months when heat becomes an issue.
Ornamental grasses are rapid growers when planted in an area that offers them adequate light and water requirements. Be sure to provide ample room for mature size when selecting a planting location.
Remember the old saying about perennials, “The first year they sleep, the second year they creep and the third year they leap.” If you choose and plant perennials carefully, you’ll soon be enjoying a bountiful garden with a minimal investment of time and money.

|What size will my plants be when shipped?|
At Santa Rosa Gardens, we offer large, healthy, rooted plants, ready to transition into your garden. Most of our plants are grown in 3.5 x 3.5" square pots, with a full 16 ounces of soil volume (as pictured on right and left).
Sempervivum and succulents with shallow root systems are sold in 2 or 2.5" cactus pots (as pictured in the center). Some plants that prefer a deeper root system are grown in 3" round x 4" deep pots.
In addition, we offer a wide selection of liner trays. Our liners are targeted to those looking for a larger quantity of a specific plant. They offer a lower price point, but will also require additional handling as a smaller plant. They are suitable for greenhouse growers, nurseries, farmer's markets, landscapers, and homeowners desiring to pot up pre-season and finish into a larger plant prior to planting in the landscape.
|Will my plant come back again next year?|
|Plants that require replanting every year are called "annuals" (they need to be planted annually - every year). Nearly all of our plants are either "evergreen" (staying green year-round) or "perennial" (will come back year-after-year). We do offer some annual plants, as well as 'tender' perennials. These are plants that are perennial (will return each year), but in certain colder zones must be treated as an annual plant.
When planting outdoors, it is important to plant in a recommended "hardiness zone" or the plant might not survive the heat of summer or the cold of winter. The recommended hardiness zone for each plant is mentioned in the description of each item, you can lookup your hardiness zone here.
