Like most Speedwells, Royal Candles is hardy and reliable over a wide range of climates. Clustered, spikes of violet-blue flowers with a long bloom period from spring till hard frost. Compact plants of crinkled foliage that are not as susceptible to lower leaf loss. Excellent as a border plant, in mixed containers and in rock gardens. Attractive, small area ground cover. Prefers sun, but tolerates part shade, especially in the South. Easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soil. If the foliage on upright varieties starts to look bad in summer, clean up the dead leaves or cut plants back to the ground after flowering. This will encourage new growth and a possible late summer rebloom. Makes an excellent cut flower for bouquets, and will attract butterflies to your garden! Common Name: Speedwell
