A refined relative of the mullein family, 'Southern Charm' is more garden-worthy, at a mature height of 36". Its branched, flowering stems carry one-inch florets in shades of cream, pink, apricot or dusky lavender, and will continue to bloom over many weeks and into the summer if they are kept deadheaded. Like its roadside cousin, 'Southern Charm' is not bothered by heat or drought and flourishes in poor soil. The upright spikes emerge from a rosette of low growing four inch basal leaves, which are wedge-shaped at the base. Smaller leaves climb the stem. Useful in borders and cottage gardens. Good vertical accent. Grows well in poor soils and will grow well on dry, rocky slopes or screens. This plant requires full sun and sharp drainage, but will tolerate some shade. Wet, cold soil in winter invariably proves fatal. Attacts hummingbirds and butterflies! Common Name: Mullein
