A Japanese variety with whorls of succulent, blue-green leaves, edged in plum color, forms a circular mound of arching stems. Terminal clusters of star-shaped, rose-pink flowers. Decidious. Requires full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Entire plant turns pink with the approach of winter's cold weather. A very good container plant!
Indoors or in greenhouse, grow tender species in a mix of 3 parts soil-based potting mix, 2 parts grit, and 1 part leaf mold, in full light, with good ventilation.
In the growing season, water moderately and apply a half-strength, balanced liquid fertilizer every month.
Water sparingly in winter.
Outdoors, grow in moderately fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil in full sun.
