Umbrella Sedge is a versatile plant with many possibilities.  Its origin is believed to be the bogs and lake/river banks in Madagascar.  It has a clumping growth habit with palm-like leaves and an overall vertical appearance.  The flowers are tiny green clusters that bloom continuously.  This is an excellent way to achieve a tropical look in your landscape.  It has the ability to tolerate diverse conditions such as very wet or somewhat dry.  This presents the opportunity to use it in a water garden as an accent plant on a pond edge, in a perennial border, or use in containers.
