This old garden cultivar has been grown since the Victorian era. It is characterized by cream-white and green variegation. Its foliage is soft and vertical, tending to flop attractively creating a natural, haphazard look. Moist areas such as streamside, but will thrive in containers as well. Picta is a persistant groundcover and care must be exercised in planning its use. Trim back in late summer for a second flush of fresh foliage. Tolerates moist, wet conditions. Grow in partial sun to full shade.
