There are few things that bring more pleasure than the return of perennial plants each year. Santa Rosa Gardens produces a large variety of perennial plants to choose from.

Deer Resistant Perennials. These attractive perennials have proven to be deer-resistant, once established. Try these if deer have been a problem in your garden.

Full Shade Perennials. Some perennials are right at home in fairly dense shade. Many of these are woodland plants that usually blossom very early in the season, though there are some exceptions.

The heart of the traditional perennial border is made up of full sun perennials. They spring from the ground to give us the textures, shapes, colors, and fragrances that make our garden dreams a reality.

Groundcover Perennials. These plants are reliable ground covers, returning year after year and establishing and covering ground quickly to provide a great groundcover.

The following is a list of perennials which will not only thrive in partial shade, but many provide lovely blooms. They need not be restricted to being grown in partial shade, some of these varieties also do very well in full sun, if adequately watered.

Butterflies, with their gorgeous colors and lilting flight, are such a joy to watch. They add so much beauty to our summers, like seeing flowers flying. It’s easy to invite more butterflies to make a seasonal stop in your yard.

Hummingbirds are pretty, they pollinate flowers, and they can move their wings faster than any other bird. If this doesn’t convince you to encourage hummingbirds in your yard, then just do it because they are a beautiful species and hummingbirds add interest, beauty, and enjoyment to a garden.
