A North American native switch grass with large, wide, intense blue-colored leaves. Good uniform columnar form. Showy, soft, pastel mauve flowerheads in August-September. Excellent fall and winter color. In early fall, it is topped with stunning reddish purple flower plumes. This cultivar has a copper color through the winter. Prefers full sun and average to moist soil. Appropriate for water and bog gardens, although this variety has a higher than average drought tolerance. Attractive to birds and butterflies.
