A large blue hosta with extraordinary presence. Heavily textured, puckered, cupped leaves up to 18" long and 12" wide. They are glaucous and extremely dark blue-green. Mauve to white, lily-like flowers are very showy, on scapes to 34" in July-August.
Partial to full shade in average to moist, well-drained soil. Fast growing. Good slug resistance. Attracts hummingbirds. Excellent groundcover, accent, or 'back of the border' plant. Though it can be grown in borders, it is best highlighted in a large ornamental pot which also help deter slugs from getting in amongst and ruining the leaves. It needs decent light to light shade, and a cool situation to maintain its attractive leaf color. Common Name: Hosta Elegans, Plantain Lily
Mature Height: 36" h x 48-60" w
Flowering: Mauve to white, lily-like flowers in August
