'Halcyon' is a vigorous grower, and is known as one of the best blue hostas around. This cultivar retains blue leaf color longer than most other blue hostas. A slower growing hosta (takes several years to develop mature shape) that is a dependable and versatile perennial. A popular, medium sized blue hosta grown for its frosted, blue-green leaves, that are thick and show good slug resistance. Pale, violet flowers appear on 28" scapes in mid summer (July through mid-August). Easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in part shade to full shade. No special culture is required. Soil should be kept moist, however, especially in hot, sunny conditions. Grown primarily for its beautiful foliage which provides color, contrast and texture to the landscape. Dense foliage crowds out most garden weeds. Attracts hummingbirds to the garden.
