Gaura lindheimeri Whirling Butterflies
A delightful southwestern native, and a more compact, clump forming, vase-shaped, and floriferous selection of the species. Snow white, starry-white, orchid-like flowers on numerous, thin, red stems, bloom from spring to autumn. Maroon spots may appear on the foliage as well.
Blossoms resemble butterflies above willow-like foliage. Requires excellent drainage, especially in winter, in sandy, loamy soil. Can tolerate heat, humidity and drought. Deadhead during flowering season to promote bushier growth and more flowers stems. Sun to part shade. A magnet for butterflies! Useful in containers as well!
