Showy, cherry-red flowers blooming over a long period, spring to autumn, then again in fall. To encourage blooms, remove fruit. Strawberry-like leaves have a creeping habit that makes for a wonderful groundcover as well as an accent to almost any perennial in the garden. Useful in hanging pots and windowboxes as well. Sun, part shade in well-drained, fertile, slightly acidic soils. Protect from wind. May be as hardy as Zone 3 with a winter mulch. Considered deer resistant.
