Santa Rosa Gardens

Abyssinian Banana is an ornamental banana tree that originates from Africa.  What makes this banana tree stand out among the rest is its bold red trunk.  The foliage has a pinkish bronze color with a green background.  It has been pointed out that this tree has a palm-like appearance.  The flowers bloom in the middle of the summer just in time to feed the hummingbirds with their sweet nectar.  Not a very cold hardy plant, it should be protected during the winter.
