This version of Ice Plant is native to South Africa in the mountains, so it is known to be more cold hardy. This fast grower offers so many possibilities in the landscape. You can use it as a groundcover, an edging, cascading over a wall, in a rock garden or in a container. The waxy green foliage is succulent and turns a bronze/red color in the winter time. The daisy-like flowers are bright yellow emerging late in the spring. This plant is great for a hot dry spot where nothing else will grow due to its drought tolerance. Also, a great butterfly attractant as well!
