Steady reliable bloomer of pure white with yellow eye. Tiny individual flowers are produced in profusion in long, dense trusses. In cooler zones, Buddleias die back to the ground each year, sending up a dense group of new shoots in late spring that quickly develop into a 6-8ft shrub. Lightly scented, Buddleias are very attractive to butterflies.
Mulch butterfly bushes in the fall, then prune the plants back to the ground in late winter.
Buddleia will re-emerge from its roots in spring.
Blooms tend to be larger and more prolific on butterfly bush's new growth, giving you incentive for pruning it.
