A new mid-sized sub-shrub, cultivar from Europe. Fragrant, true pink, 15-18" long flower panicles. An excellent vase-shaped bush and long lasting cut flower. A very strong grower. Attractrive to butterflies and hummingbirds. In cooler hardiness zones, buddleias die back to the ground each year, sending up a dense group of new shoots in late spring. Remove all dead, damaged or weak growth. This variety is slow to leaf out in spring and prefers warmer weather, full sun, and a well-drained garden soil. Considered deer resistant, and drought tolerant, once established.
Mulch butterfly bushes in the fall, then prune the plants back to the ground in late winter.
Buddleia will re-emerge from its roots in spring.
Blooms tend to be larger and more prolific on butterfly bush's new growth, giving you incentive for pruning it.
