Astilbe chinensis Visions

Sweetly fragrant, upright plumes of raspberry-pink bloom. Compact, low-growing , fern-like, deep blue-green foliage. Grows best in partial shade to full sun with evenly moist soil. This variety is considered somewhat better sun and drought tolerant once established. Good cut flower and beautiful when used in containers.

In order to keep Astilbe looking good for the next year, do not cut it back in the winter, (the old foliage helps protect the plant from winter damage), but prune in early spring. Astilbe can be used as cut flowers, perennial borders or shade gardens with Hosta’s and Ferns. Astilbe is considered to be deer resistant and will attract hummingbirds.
