Sweetly fragrant, upright plumes of raspberry-pink blooms. Compact, low-growing , fern-like, deep blue-green foliage. Grows best in partial shade to morning sun with evenly moist soil. This variety is considered somewhat better sun and drought tolerant once established. Good cut flower and beautiful when used in containers. In order to keep Astilbe looking good for the next year, do not cut it back in the winter, (the old foliage helps protect the plant from winter damage), but prune in early spring. Astilbe can be used as cut flowers, perennial borders or shade gardens with Hostas and Ferns. Astilbe is considered to be deer resistant and will attract hummingbirds.
Part shade. Full sun will be tolerated in cool climates if the plants are kept well watered.
Soil: Plant in a rich, free draining soil.
Watering: Water well during hot, dry spells whilst the plant is growing.
Fertilizing: Apply annual feed of general purpose fertilizer once plant starts to shoot. You can also mulch with well composted manure over Winter.
