Growing Aquatic plants
Plants that grow at the edge of the pond are called marginal aquatics. Their roots grow under water and their foliage grows above the water. Marginals add interest and character to the pond. Plants like Sweet Flag, Juncus and Taro are a few marginal plants that can enhance any water feature.
Santa Rosa Gardens offers a selection of plants that perform well alongside the pond or even partially submerged.
Marginal plants also make great wet container plantings. Use a container without drainage to provide a constantly wet environment for these moisture loving plants.
Note: Unlike many mail order nurseries, our marginal aquatics are shipped as potted plants, not bareroot.
