Semi-evergreen, handsome grass-like, creamy-white, variegated foliage. Leaves when crushed, emit a delicious tangerine scent. Will naturalize in bogs or at the water's edge, but will also grow with average moisture, and even tolerates clay soil. Do not allow to dry out, however. Useful as a slow spreading mat/ground cover. Insignificant flowers in spring. Outstanding choice for containers on shady patios. Best in part to full shade, but can take morning sun. Considered deer resistant.
Lighting: The plants grow best in part shade, outdoors.
Watering: Acorus is very much a water loving plant, and the soil must be kept continually moist.
Temperature: The plants are hardy, surviving very hot summers and very cold winters.
Fertilizing: Feed regularly as recommended by the manufacturer.
Pests and diseases: Very disease and pest free.
Growing in containers: This species will grow in pots as long as there is more than ample space for root growth.
